What are your favorite WordPress plugins?

Over a year ago, I asked readers for their favorite books on writing, and the response led to a wonderful list of 37 titles that I continue to refer to.

To help with the move from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site, I need your help again, this time for WordPress plugins.

Even something as simple as choosing a social sharing or comment plugin is far from easy. When I do a Google search, many of the “best of” sites are primarily filled with affiliate links. I’ve been using user ratings as a guide, but they aren’t very detailed. I’d much rather hear one-on-one recommendations from real bloggers who have had experience with the products.

So, here is my question:

What are your favorite, most-recommended, can’t do without WordPress plugins?

WordPress

As with the writing books, I’ll collect your recommendations and share them, with helpful links, in a future post.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Okay, let’s see if I can do this easily and quickly and still make sense. First, Akismet for spam filtering, I use the image widget, Jetpack for a lot of different things. I believe the Smart Youtube Pro is what allows you to post a video simply, the social media widget to link to Facebook, Twitter, etc. Then I have a lot of other ones I should probably weed out. Sometimes they look like they’ll be just what I need, but end up short on the deal. I hope this helps a little, Lisa. 🙂

  2. By the way, congratulations on the New Site! The comments are working great. And now I’m going to go searching for the “comment love” to add to mine.

    • Thanks, Victoria! Your plug-in suggestions are terrific. Too many options, too little time to try them all… 🙂
